Do you sell vegan products? Cross Minus

Barlean’s has many different vegan options that are perfect for those on a vegan diet. Our award-winning flax oil is vegan as well as a number of our Seriously Delicious products, milled flax seeds and other select vegan oils. We also now make Omega-3 supplements with algae oil, a vegan source of EPA/DHA. Note: Our softgels are made from bovine and are not vegan.

ARE YOUR PRODUCTS ORGANIC? Cross Minus

A number of Barlean's products are organic and we provide the USDA Certified Organic symbol on the label of those products. All products are herbicide and pesticide free and manufactured without using solvents.

ARE YOUR PRODUCTS NON-GMO? Cross Minus

The majority of our products are non-GMO and several have been verified by the Non-GMO Project, you can look for their logo on our labels.

ARE YOUR PRODUCTS GLUTEN FREE? Cross Minus

The majority of our products are gluten-free and those that are will say so on the product label.

WHERE ARE YOUR INGREDIENTS SOURCED FROM? Cross Minus

All Barlean’s products are made with the highest quality ingredients; we use North American-grown flaxseed and we get our fish sustainably off the coast of South America and the coast of Alaska.

WHAT ALLERGENS ARE PRESENT IN BARLEAN'S PRODUCTS? Cross Minus

We use FDA-compliant allergen labeling and are a dairy and wheat-free facility. We always recommend you speak to your health care provider if you have a known allergen to make sure a product is right for you.

HOW LONG PAST THE EXPIRATION DATE ARE YOUR PRODUCTS GOOD FOR? Cross Minus

For the best taste and quality, we recommend that you use our products by the freshness date located on each product. However, our products are generally safe to consume up to 2 months after this date. To retain freshness, be sure to refrigerate your products after opening.

DO YOUR PRODUCTS NEED TO BE REFRIGERATED BEFORE OPENING? Cross Minus

All Barlean’s products are induction sealed so no oxygenation can occur. Therefore, they are shelf stable until opened as long as the product doesn’t sit in high heat for a prolonged period of time. You should, however, refrigerate our liquid supplements after opening.

What is your Shipping Policy? Cross Minus

Orders over $75 enjoy free shipping across the entire U.S. Orders below $75 are charged a flat shipping rate of $12. All orders ship via UPS Ground. We are unable to ship to PO Boxes. International shipping is not available at this time directly from Barlean's. We recommend purchasing our products on iHerb.com for international orders.

When will my order ship and how long is the transit time? Cross Minus

Orders are shipped the following business day after they are received. Standard UPS Ground transit time is 2-4 business days.

Flax Oil FAQ

what are the benefits of flaxseed oil? Cross Minus

Flaxseed oil is a good source of the parent Omega-3 ALA which can be converted into EPA/DHA in the body and is also good for healthy skin and the cardiovascular system.*

Is your flaxseed organic? Cross Minus

Barlean's flax oil and Forti-Flax are certified USDA Organic. Our flax oil softgels, unfortunately, are not.

What is the difference between the lignan and fresh flax oil? Cross Minus

Like orange juice has pulp, flax seed has lignans. Barlean’s lignan flax oil includes the fiber particulate and the fresh flax does not. Flaxseed is the richest source of the lignan SDG which helps give flax oil its amazing benefits, it has up to 800x more lignans than other plant foods. Our Lignan Flax Oil contains naturally occurring lignan particulate from seed pressing.

Why does my flax oil taste different from bottle to bottle? Cross Minus

It's normal for the taste of flaxseed oil to vary between batches. Flaxseeds are sensitive to growing conditions, which affects their flavor profile. The taste can range from light and nutty to more earthy and bitter. When the seeds are pressed into oil, those flavor differences carry through.

Algae FAQ

What type of algae do you use? Cross Minus

We use oil from a patented strain of microalgae called Schizochytrium. This sustainably grown marine microalgae is rich in the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA. Produced in a FDA-inspected facility under current Good Manufacturing Practices (certified GRAS status) in a controlled environment from start to finish.

Where is the algae grown? Cross Minus

The algae is cultivated in large fermentation tanks in Kingstree, SC, USA. It is not harvested from the ocean to ensure a clean, contaminant-free source of omega-3s that protect ocean habitats.

Is the algae non-GMO? Cross Minus

Yes, the algae strain used is non-GMO and grown without herbicides, pesticides and is certified chemical solvent free. Our sources sustainable production process ensures purity and avoids ocean-borne contaminants.

How much xylitol is in your Seriously Delicious products? Cross Minus

There are two grams of xylitol per serving of our Seriously Delicious fish oil products, and three grams per serving of our Seriously Delicious flax oil products.

what is xylitol? Cross Minus

Xylitol is a naturally occurring sugar alcohol found in plants like birch trees and corn.

Your Seriously Delicious products contains green tea, how much caffeine is there? Cross Minus

There is such a small amount of caffeine per ppm’s that it is an undetectable amount.

Fish Oil FAQ

WHAT IS FISH OIL GOOD FOR? Cross Minus

Omega-3s are essential to life and our bodies need them for optimal health, however, the majority of people in the US are deficient. Fish oil includes Omega-3 in its active form EPA/DHA, so it's able to increase Omega-3 levels in the body. Omega-3s support many functions of our brain, heart, skin, and cellular health.* Specifically, EPA is essential for tissue function, hormones, and a healthy inflammation and triglyceride response. DHA helps with tissue structure, eye and brain development, nerve cell communication, memory and mood.*

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN KRILL OIL AND FISH OIL? Cross Minus

Krill is a phospholipid form of Omega-3 and fish oil is a triglyceride form and has higher amounts of the active EPA/DHA.

WHERE IS YOUR FISH OIL SOURCED? Cross Minus

Barlean’s fish oil is sourced from anchovy, mackerel and sardines wild caught off the coast of south America. There is an exception with our Ideal Omega-3 softgels, which are sourced from pollock caught in Icelandic waters.

How is your fish oil made? Cross Minus

Barleans’s Fresh Catch fish oil is wild-caught, cold-filtered and left in the natural triglyceride form. Then bottled, induction sealed for freshness, and 3rd party tested for purity, potency and toxicity.

IS YOUR FISH OIL THIRD-PARTY TESTED? Cross Minus

All Barlean’s fish oil is third-party tested for purity, potency, toxicity and heavy metals.

Does fish oil make you poop? Cross Minus

Loose stools can be a side effect in some people when taking fish oil and can often be helped by taking the oil with a meal. You can also try starting with a smaller dosage and increasing over time. It's best to consult your doctor if you're having problems with your fish oil supplement.

Can you give fish oil to dogs? Cross Minus

Yes! Fish oil is a beneficial source of Omega-3s which are essential to your dog’s health. Like humans, dogs can’t make Omega-3s on their own and must get it in from their diet or supplementation. Omega-3s are good for your dog's all-over body health and a healthy, shiny coat. IMPORTANT: Our Seriously Delicious fish oil products contain xylitol which is toxic for dogs, do not give this to your pets.

Can I give your emulsions to my pet? Cross Minus

We use xylitol to sweeten our Seriously Delicious emulsion line and xylitol is toxic to animals so it should never be given to your pet.

Does fish oil help joints? Cross Minus

The Omega-s in fish oil encourage a healthy inflammation response and therefore can keep joints healthy and lubricated.* Please consult your doctor.

Do the Platinum Products need to be taken with or without food? Cross Minus

Both Barlean's Stomach Repair and Intestinal Repair can be taken with or without food. For best absorption, it is best to take it after a meal.

What time of day should I take the Platinum Products? Cross Minus

Both Stomach Repair and Intestinal Repair can be taken at any time of day. The best plan of action is to use it when it fits best into your schedule.

What in the glycerin in Olive Leaf derived from? Cross Minus

We use sustainable, non-GMO palm.

What is Brevail good for and is it just for women? Cross Minus
